An established law firm is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide maternity cover on a fixed-term contract. This is a senior leadership role with real operational exposure, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the detail while operating at a strategic level. The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial stability, strengthening reporting capability, and acting as a trusted commercial partner to senior stakeholders. Despite the seniority of the role, this is a hands-on position requiring direct ownership of core finance outputs, particularly monthly management reporting. The successful candidate will quickly build credibility across the business, balancing technical excellence with relationship-driven leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
- Timely ownership and delivery of the monthly management reporting cycle, providing clear insight into financial performance and variances
- Production and review of accurate management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow, ensuring robust commentary for senior stakeholders
- Direct oversight of forecasting and short- to medium-term financial planning, incorporating input from operational leaders
- Hands-on involvement in cashflow management, working capital monitoring and liquidity planning
- Providing meaningful analysis of performance trends, risks and opportunities to support commercial decision-making
- Acting as a senior finance partner to partners and department heads, building trust and influencing outcomes through insight and data
- Ensuring strong financial controls are maintained, with regular review of reconciliations and balance sheet integrity
- Leadership and support of the finance team, maintaining momentum and clarity during the maternity cover period
- Overseeing compliance with LLP and legal sector financial requirements, working with external advisers where required
- Managing stakeholder relationships with auditors, banks and other external parties during the contract period
- Supporting budgeting cycles, financial modelling and ad-hoc commercial projects as required by the business
- Maintaining high standards of accuracy, pace and accountability across all financial outputs
Skills & Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with demonstrable senior-level experience in a legal or LLP environment
- Proven track record of producing and owning detailed monthly management reporting within a professional services context
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on finance leadership role, combining strategic oversight with operational delivery
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility quickly with partners and senior stakeholders
- Highly organised, resilient and adaptable, with the confidence to step into an interim leadership role seamlessly
