Commercial Manager - Civil Engineering & Groundworks | Yorkshire

Are you a seasoned Commercial Manager looking for your next opportunity within a growing and forward-thinking contractor?

I'm currently working with a civil engineering and groundworks specialist that is expanding its commercial team in Yorkshire. They are delivering a wide range of civils packages across the region and are looking for a commercially astute individual to help lead and strengthen the function.

🔍 About the Role:
This is a key position within the commercial department, requiring a balanced mix of office-based work and regular site visits. You'll be overseeing all commercial and contractual matters across multiple live projects, ensuring budgets are managed, costs are tracked, and teams are aligned to deliver on time and within scope.

💼 Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of Quantity Surveyors, Estimators, and Apprentices

Manage cost forecasting, variations, CVRs, and sub-contractor accounts

Ensure robust contract and financial processes are in place and followed

Work closely with construction and senior management to drive commercial performance

Develop client relationships and support new business opportunities

Provide commercial input into key business decisions and ongoing project delivery

✅ What You'll Need:

Proven experience in a similar Commercial Manager role, ideally within groundworks or civil engineering

Strong leadership and communication skills

Contract management and financial reporting expertise

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced delivery environment

Competent in using construction management software

Knowledge of NEC or JCT forms of contract (advantageous)
