Are you a skilled Machinist with a passion for innovation and a knack for precision? We're seeking a talented individual to join the Research & Development Department for a leading manufacturer of off highway diesel engines in Peterborough.

In this dynamic role, you'll be instrumental in bringing new ideas to life. You'll be responsible for performing a variety of machining tasks to support current and new programs, working to tight deadlines. This will involve:

Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings.
Following engineer's instructions meticulously.
Operating a range of machinery, including CNC and conventional lathes, milling machines, grinding, and boring machines, to produce high-quality parts.
Adhering strictly to company processes, including Safety, Standard Work, and Quality.This role primarily involves hands-on build shop operations (85%), with the remaining 15% dedicated to valuable training and process improvement activities. Their core hours are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with flexibility to be discussed.

What You'll Bring:

Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and email.
Proven experience operating conventional Lathes, Milling machines, Grinding, and Boring machines, and/or CNC programming/operating.
Expertise in using various measuring equipment, such as vernier calipers, depth gauges, and thread gauges.
The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
A self-motivated approach with excellent teamwork skills.
Initiative, strong problem-solving abilities, and a positive attitude to change.
Willingness to work shifts if required (currently no shift work in this area).Bonus Points If You Have:

An Apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining or equivalent qualifications.
Previous experience in work coordination or leadership.
Experience using Mazak 5-axis Mazatrol Smooth X control or Feature Cam.
Experience using Haas ST 10 Fanuc control.
