Salary: £425 - £453 per day

Wiltshire Council are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead Canons House, ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people with complex disabilities. This is a statutory role with overall accountability for the service, driving quality, compliance, and positive outcomes in line with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Care Standards.

Set-up: Mostly on-site, some hybrid flexibility

Rate: £453/day via umbrella inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3 month, subject to extension

Hours: Full-time position

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the emotional and physical wellbeing of children and young people
  • Oversee care planning, risk management, and service delivery to achieve positive outcomes in line with regulatory and Ofsted requirements
  • Manage, develop, and support a multidisciplinary staff team, including supervision, recruitment, training, and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and standards, including health & safety, safeguarding, and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
  • Build effective partnerships with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to deliver integrated, high-quality care

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in social work, nursing, teaching, or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Children & Young People, plus a recognised management qualification
  • Significant experience working with children with disabilities and their families within a residential or care setting
  • Proven leadership experience (minimum 2 years at senior/deputy manager level) with responsibility for staff management and service delivery
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Care Standards, safeguarding, and current childcare legislation
  • Demonstrable skills in leadership, communication, risk management, and budget oversight, with the ability to drive high standards and challenge poor practice
