M&E Assistant Quantity Surveyor
London | Full-time | Site-based

If you are an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is ready to operate at Project QS level, this is your opportunity to step into that responsibility.

You are capable of more than assisting someone else's spreadsheets. You understand subcontractor packages, variations, payment applications and cost reporting. You can manage your own workstreams and hold commercial control without needing constant direction.

Here you will be trusted with real responsibility on major infrastructure upgrades across London. You will manage defined mechanical and electrical packages while working alongside senior commercial leadership on technically complex projects.

The work sits within live operational environments including commercial buildings and mission-critical infrastructure. That means disciplined commercial management, clear communication with project teams and strong control of subcontractor packages.

These projects require commercial professionals who understand the reality of building services installation, not just the numbers behind it.

You will play a key role in maintaining commercial control across projects that upgrade the mechanical and electrical infrastructure powering some of London's most important buildings.

What you'll do

Manage defined M&E subcontractor packages from procurement through to final account, ensuring commercial control is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Review and assess subcontractor payment applications against progress on site, ensuring valuations reflect actual delivery and contractual milestones.

Manage variation processes across mechanical and electrical infrastructure works, ensuring changes are properly recorded, valued and agreed.

Support cost reporting and forecasting, maintaining clear visibility of project performance and commercial risk.

Work closely with project delivery teams to understand installation progress, identify commercial impacts early and maintain accurate cost tracking.

Maintain structured commercial documentation including subcontract records, change registers, payment assessments and project reporting.
