Heidelberg Materials UK is on the lookout for a driven, hands‑on Assistant Quarry Manager who's eager to step into a key operational leadership role. In this role, you'll work alongside the Unit Manager to keep our quarry and depot operations running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. From championing best‑in‑class safety standards to supporting environmental compliance, you'll play a central part in shaping daily performance and empowering our operational teams.

You'll support the Unit Manager in driving performance across all operational areas, including:

• Champion the highest standards in line with Heidelberg Materials' Health & Safety Plan.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site safety performance.

• Operate to the highest environmental standards in line with our Environmental Management Plan.
• Support ongoing improvements to reduce environmental impact.

• Ensure all statutory legislation and company policies are consistently applied.

• Contribute to achieving optimal production levels at the lowest operational cost.
• Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency.

• Work closely with logistics to ensure efficient distribution processes and excellent customer service.

• Support effective staffing, training, and development of operational teams.
• Ensure assets and resources align with business plan delivery.
• Help develop talent pipelines and succession planning.

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership and clear communication of operational goals.
• Support and develop team members to achieve performance expectations.

• Ensure effective controls are in place across all areas, including health & safety, environmental compliance, capital project management, and revenue spend.

• Strong operational awareness within quarrying, aggregates, or a similar heavy industry environment.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people‑development skills.
