Are you looking to take the next step in your engineering or manufacturing career? This Quality Inspector / Trainee role is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in precision inspection, quality control and continuous improvement within a high-tech environment.
As a Quality Inspector / Trainee, you'll play a key role in ensuring components and assemblies meet exacting standards using Faro Arm, CMM, and a variety of metrology equipment. You'll contribute to customer satisfaction and right-first-time manufacturing, while building experience in problem-solving and quality tools.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect components and assemblies using CMM, Faro Arm and hand tools
* Visually inspect welds and finished goods for conformity
* Record defects and non-conformance, supporting root cause and corrective actions
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities and quality initiatives
* Validate components using various test methods
* Track and update KPIs to support quality targets
* Collaborate with internal teams to deliver consistent product standards
Requirements
Essential:
* At least 3 years in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment
* Experience with ISO 9001 and quality process tools (FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa, etc.)
* Proficient in using CMM/Faro Arm and hand metrology equipment
* Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
* GCSEs (or equivalent) and qualified to BTEC/HNC/HND level in a mechanical/manufacturing discipline
Desirable:
* Knowledge of vacuum systems or fabrication/welding processes
* Previous experience in the vacuum industry
* Confident delivering technical feedback and supporting customer quality standards

* Capable of taking ownership and working independently
* Comfortable collaborating with teams and communicating quality issues clearly
* Professional, calm under pressure, and eager to learn
