Highly motivated Senior Financial Systems Officer to join our Resources Directorate. In this pivotal role, you will help maintain our financial accounts' integrity, ensure robust internal controls, and contribute to our exciting project to implement a modern financial system.

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Financial Systems Manager, your main role will be the day-to-day running of one or more of the Council's Financial systems. You will:

* Administer, reconcile, and support our current financial systems

* Play a supporting role in the transition to a new financial system

* Support data migration and validation activities

* Test new system functionalities and report issues

* Assist with user training and documentation

* Assist with year-end close processes and provide audit support

* Identify and implement improvements to our systems

Key Responsibilities

* Execute and reconcile financial processes within existing systems

* System administration and user support for current platforms

* Manage data integrity and reporting

* New System Implementation: actively participate in the upcoming financial system project, assisting with testing, data migration and validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Contribute to the development of training materials and provide support to colleagues during the transition to the new system.

* Support year-end close processes and audits

Essential Skills & Experience

* Technical Proficiency: Experience administering and supporting financial systems. Strong Excel skills are essential.

* Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve complex financial data issues.

* Data Management: Experience ensuring data accuracy and integrity; experience with data migration is highly desirable.

* Reconciliation Expertise: Solid understanding of reconciliation principles.

* Project Involvement: Experience with system implementation or willingness to learn and contribute.

* Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain complex finance concepts to varied audiences

Desirable Skills & Experience

* Local authority finance experience

* Knowledge of financial legislation and best practice

* System testing and implementation experience

* Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff

* Responding to FOI requests and handling enquiries

* Reporting experience in tools like SAP Business Objects and Crystal.
