Job Description & Person Specification

Job Title: Youth Hub Coordinator
Location: Hendon, Sunderland
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 (dependent on experience & qualifications)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Annual Leave: 28 days plus Bank Holidays
Responsible to: Head of Operations
Responsible for: Sessional youth workers, associated programme staff and volunteers

Accountabilities

You will be accountable for engaging families and coordinating the delivery of Family & Young People's services, including youth clubs, play sessions, and community engagement programmes. These services will be used to engage parents of working age in meaningful activity to help them move towards the labour market and out of poverty.

You will work closely with senior management to develop stakeholder relationships, deliver operational plans, and shape high-quality community services. You will also contribute to monitoring social impact and ensuring continuous improvement, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery

* Facilitate the delivery of all Family & Young People's activities at community sites.

* Develop programmes that engage parents of working age in meaningful activity.

* Engage families in targeted activities to support children and young people.

* Work with local schools to identify early intervention opportunities.

* Provide holistic family support through youth and family programmes.

* Link families with existing services addressing unemployment, food poverty, and money management.

* Manage stakeholder relationships with partners delivering Family & Young People's services.

* Collaborate to develop new services, activities, and training opportunities that support people into work.

* Assist in managing funded programmes against deadlines and targets.

* Lead on the development and management of community facilities, ensuring they are maintained to a high standard.

* Support in securing revenue funding to develop and sustain youth and family services.

* Work with local residents to identify gaps in provision and develop services to meet those needs.

* Plan and deliver seasonal activities and events to raise the organisation's profile and attract new beneficiaries.

* Support the coordination and management of volunteers.

* Manage budgets, monitoring income and expenditure.

* Capture beneficiary feedback and monitor social impact for all activities.

* Work with communications staff to promote programmes, good news stories, and events.

Personal Qualities

Leads by example and demonstrates organisational values.

Experienced in managing staff and volunteers.

Strong understanding of the voluntary/community sector.

Skilled in building networks and partnerships.

Able to balance competing deadlines and stakeholder needs.

Experienced in managing multiple complex projects.

Experienced in monitoring and managing budgets.

Education & Qualifications

Relevant previous or current employment or voluntary work, including work with families.

Educated to degree level or with relevant professional qualifications, or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Accredited training in parenting, play therapy, or family intervention (desirable).

Knowledge & Experience

Understanding of challenges faced by children, young people, and families regionally and locally.

Strong relationship-building and communication skills with children and families.

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues.

Project management experience.

Budget management experience. Understanding of relevant policies and procedures.

Skills

Experience in planning and delivering successful youth and family events.

Competent IT and systems skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage budgets effectively.
