Fabricator Welder - Permanent Role
Location: Derby-based with flexibility for UK-wide site work
Salary: £19 per hour | 40+ hours per week

About the Client:

A fast-growing Rail Engineering firm based in Derby, specialising in overhaul and smash repair projects across the UK. With a busy pipeline of work and secured contracts, they are looking to expand their team with experienced Fabricator Welders.

The Role:

As a Fabricator Welder, you will be working independently and in small teams to deliver high-quality fabrication and welding as part of rail vehicle repair and overhaul projects.

Duties include:

* Interpreting engineering drawings to fabricate components in the workshop
* MIG and TIG welding in all positions (Vertical Up / Overhead)
* Working with Aluminium and Mild Steel
* Using fabrication tools, including Oxy-Acetylene for material manipulation
* Following WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)
* Basic stripping/fitting tasks to access repair areas
* Occasional travel and work on various sites and depots across the UK

Requirements:

* Proficient in reading technical/engineering drawings
* Competent in MIG and TIG welding in all positions
* Willingness to travel and work away when required
* Strong team player with excellent communication skills
* Relevant welding/fabrication certifications (advantageous)
* Previous rail industry experience (preferred but not essential)

Weld Test Required:

To be considered, all candidates must complete a weld test:
* MIG on Mild Steel - Butt and Fillet Welds (2mm & 6mm, Vertical Up & Overhead)
