Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Buyer with a background in civil engineering or construction to manage the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services. The successful candidate will ensure all purchases are cost-effective, delivered on time, and meet project specifications, while building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Source and procure materials, equipment, and subcontract services for civil engineering projects.

*

Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure best value.

*

Review project specifications to determine procurement requirements.

*

Prepare purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement records.

*

Monitor supplier performance and address issues promptly.

*

Liaise with project managers, site teams, and estimators to align procurement with project needs.

*

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry regulations.

*

Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.

*

Develop and maintain an approved supplier database.

Key Requirements:

*

Proven experience as a Buyer within the civil engineering or construction sector.

*

Strong knowledge of materials, plant, and services used in civil engineering projects.

*

Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

*

Ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.

*

Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

*

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software.

*

Full UK driving licence.
