Location: Cannock

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000

Higher end of the range available for candidates with broad transactional experience and exposure to producing basic management reports within an SME environment.

We’re delighted to be supporting a fantastic Reed client based in Cannock — a well-established, exciting business that continues to grow. They are now looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to take ownership of the company’s day-to-day financial processes and keep everything running smoothly.

This is a great role for someone who loves being hands-on, understands the ins and outs of transactional finance, and can confidently maintain accurate, up-to-date company accounts. You’ll be the go-to person for all bookkeeping activity and play a key role in supporting the business with reliable financial information.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Managing all day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring all income and expenditure is accurately recorded.
  • Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including reconciliations and payment runs.
  • Preparing monthly financial reports, supporting the Director with clear, easy-to-understand figures.
  • Assisting with basic management accounts tasks such as month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments (training can be provided for the right person).
  • Acting as the main point of contact across the business for finance queries, promoting transparency and consistency.
  • Keeping processes tidy, organised and efficient, with the freedom to improve systems where needed.

Ideally, You Will:

  • Have strong experience as a Bookkeeper or in an all-round accounts role within an SME.
  • Be confident handling the full spectrum of transactional finance with minimal supervision.
  • Have experience using Xero (advantageous but not essential).
  • Enjoy working autonomously, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Be proactive, personable, and comfortable supporting a small, friendly team.

Benefits:

  • Work closely with the Director and contribute directly to how the business moves forward.
  • Full trust and autonomy in managing your own workload.
  • A real opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing, supportive business.
  • Beautiful and easily accessible working location.
