We’re looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to support students at our college in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has previously worked in a Teaching Assistant role and are passionate about helping learners overcome barriers to education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualised support: Provide one-to-one guidance and adapt learning materials for students requiring additional help.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and external specialists to create and implement effective support strategies to suit the needs of each student.
- Positive Role Modelling: Encourage respectful, inclusive interactions between students to promote positive, welcoming behaviours.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents, celebrating achievements and offering support where needed.
- Training and Development: Participate in training and development sessions to stay updated with the latest educational practices and techniques for supporting students with SEN.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience as a teaching assistant, particularly with SEN responsibilities.
- Good understanding of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage confidently with students, staff, and families.
- A patient, empathetic, and student-focused approach to learning and development.
- Versatile and adaptable, able to work across various educational settings and respond to
- Varying learning requirements.
