Operational Research Analyst

Job Description

The selected candidate performs various logistical tasks related to the development, operation, evaluation, and improvement of Naval Weapons Systems supportability and/or maintainability programs and information systems. Works on logistics and maintainability efforts on issues such as: technical evaluation and identification of weapons systems logistics requirements and resources; development of logistics support and maintainability programs or plans; systems acquisition requirements analysis; budgetary or financial analysis and control; life cycle cost analysis and control; communication systems hardware and software standardization and compatibility; and Integrated Logistics support (ILS). Collects, compiles, analyzes, investigates, researches or applies logistics, maintenance, acquisition, or financial data and information. Responsible for maintaining baseline of materials (BOM), researching statuses, and reporting to project managers and customers. Works with vendors to acquire price and lead time on both regularly procured material and hard to find/end of life material. Researches and developes APLs. Assists with management of Installation and Checkout (INCO) spares, by performing research based on APL data, reviewing current stock levels, filling requests and replenishing stock.

Responsibilities include:

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

  • Perform cost analysis for systems in all phases of the life cycle
  • Analyze common earned value management (EVM) metrics to ensure performance measures are met
  • Use computer-based modeling and simulation applications to conduct analysis
  • Develop affordability analysis that compares estimate against current program funding to meet the command's engineering goals and requirements
  • Study methodologies for estimating life cycle costs for acquisition programs
  • Required Skills and Education

    Bachelor's degree
    Pursuing Professional Logisticians Certification
    At least one year of progressive experience in logistics support, prefer to have had experience supporting communications systems


    Associate degree
    Pursuing Professional Logisticians Certification
    At least two years of progressive experience in logistics support, prefer to have had experience supporting communications systems

    Ability to obtain/retain a DoD CAC (Common Access Card)
