We are seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our dynamic. Our client runs 11 hospital and surgical centres nationwide, all rated “Outstanding” or “Good” by the CQC. Facilities boast top PROMs and NJR data, 100% clean scores, and excellent PLACE assessments.
This role involves performing a range of anaesthetic procedures on patients referred to the hospital, in accordance with established protocols and practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise, efficiency in theatre, and a strong commitment to teamwork and patient care.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Perform anaesthetic procedures independently across various specialities including orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, ENT, and urology, primarily on an elective basis.
- Engage in the anaesthetic pre-assessment of patients and their optimisation prior to surgery, in collaboration with the nursing team.
- Participate in the management of the service through audit, research, and specific management tasks.
- Contribute to monthly departmental meetings and collaborate closely with the Medical Director and other surgical colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff and other clinical personnel.
- Support and promote the use of regional anaesthesia and analgesia, particularly for orthopaedic surgery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Substantial experience performing the procedures outlined, with an excellent clinical quality record.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in theatre and manage complex clinical situations.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and the development of clinical care pathways.
- Willingness to participate in out of hours on-call cover on a rota basis.
- Engagement in continuous professional development and contribution to the department's administrative and management responsibilities.
