Job Title: Mechanical Projects Manager

Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 depending on experience

A regional M&E Contractor are looking for a Mechanical Projects Manager to join their Special Projects division in Cambridge. The company provides M&E services to a wide range of end user clients and main contractors across a variety of sectors including schools, universities, hospitals, research & development and high end residential. These projects range in value from but typically up to £250,000.

The successful candidate will be working in partnership with the project management team to effectively deliver the projects and producing tenders for future works.

The role is also open to someone with experience in the mechanical industry looking to come off the tools or supervisory role and to step into managing projects and the commercial element of tendering news works.

As the Mechanical Projects Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

* Working closely with the M&E project management team and co-ordinate the on-site labour force to ensure the projects are completed to required contractual schedule and standards.

* Managing materials, labour, installation, procurement and drawing programmes to accord with installation and specification requirements.

* Overseeing progress of mechanical installation works, addressing any issues, compliance and H&S regulations.

* Conduct site inspections and quality control checks ensuring all works meets industry standards, regulations and client's specifications.

* Maintain close working relationships with clients, sub-contractors and internal teams.

* Ensure a smooth mechanical handover to the client and provide aftercare support.

* Close liaison with clients/potential clients regarding any enquiries received into the company and assigned.

* Attend site surveys or tender interviews as necessary.

* Preparing mechanical tender documents for Special Projects division.

Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:

* Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of mechanical systems and their installation methods.

* Experience managing commercial projects up to £250,000.

* Experience managing projects from cradle to grave including estimating, project management and procurement.

* Relevant Mechanical qualifications.

* SSSTS or SMSTS.

* Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.

* The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines.

* Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

* Strong IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
