Communication Support Worker

Job Purpose
Reed Further Education are recruiting Communication Support Worker across Lancashire.
As a Communication Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping students fully engage with both their studies and college life.
Using your skills in British Sign Language (BSL), note-taking, lip-speaking, and adapting learning materials, you’ll provide high-quality communication support tailored to individual needs.
Day to Day of the role:
- Deliver in-class and out-of-class communication support for D/deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
- Adapt learning materials and classroom environments to ensure full accessibility.
- Encourage and support students in building independence and developing effective communication skills.
- Manage and maintain specialist equipment to support learning.
- Work collaboratively with tutors and the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team to remove barriers to learning.
- Provide support during exams, academic reviews, and safeguarding meetings.
- Assist with enrolment and induction activities to ensure a smooth transition into college life.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- British Sign Language Level 3 or above
- Experience supporting individuals with hearing impairment
- A strong understanding and commitment to safeguarding practices.
- Minimum of GCSE A-C/Level 2 in English and Maths.
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one.
