We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Engineering Manager. In this leadership role, you will oversee maintenance, and optimization of our bus fleet, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. You will lead a team of engineers, driving innovation, improving vehicle performance, and implementing best practices to enhance service quality.

About the role:

* Responsible for the allocation of work and duties to the engineering team to ensure that there are sufficient vehicles to provide the required service.

* Responsible for ensuring the engineering team effectively and efficiently deliver the planned and unplanned maintenance and ensuring that all vehicles wheels are checked and torqued.

* Responsible for ensuring on a daily basis that the PVR (Peak Vehicle Requirement) is delivered and effectively managed, this is likely to involve a cooperative approach with the Operations Teams.

* Responsible for reviewing the vehicles and allocating a status to each vehicle ensuring that unsafe and unfit vehicles do not enter service and logging any mileage that may be lost, this will include highlighting any specific mileage challengers that may arise.

* Undertake frequent and regular reviews of the facilities and workshop, this will include general housekeeping and reporting of any facilities issues and defects.

* Ensure that any visitors or contractors who are working in the engineering department have the necessary and required permits to work and supervise any engineering contractors working within the department.

* Responsible for carrying out quality checks on all vehicles ensuring that they meet both the DVSA and company standards.

* Manage the workshop engineers who are working during the night shift ensuring that they have the skills and ability to carry out their role. This will include performance management and ensuring that the time at work is effect and productive.

* It is essential that you have prior experience of managing a team of engineers and are capable of motivating colleagues and ensuring they are willing to work with you to deliver the required vehicle maintenance.

* You will be a member of the IRTE or hold another relevant professional qualification and an interest in emerging technologies and electric vehicles would be an advantage.

Requirements:

* Level 3 qualification in PSV or fleet Maintenance and repair procedures

* A valid UK driving licence

* Strong understanding of bus mechanical systems, electrical systems and advanced technologies.

* Proficiency in managing vehicle diagnostics, repairs and modifications
