About the Role

A supportive and inclusive primary school in Romford is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs. You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo to help the pupil access learning, regulate emotions, build confidence, and make consistent progress throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver 1:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs

Support with learning activities and differentiated tasks

Assist with social, emotional and communication development

Implement strategies set by the SENCo, teacher and external specialists

Encourage independence, positive behaviour and engagement

Maintain regular communication with staff and contribute to planning where needed

Foster a safe, nurturing and trusting relationship with the pupil

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience supporting children with SEN (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language, or similar)

A patient, caring and proactive approach

Strong teamwork and communication skills

The ability to remain calm and adaptable

A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

An enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
