ABOUT THE ROLE
A fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Buyer to join this team on a 9-12 month maternity cover contract.
This hands-on, creative, and commercially focused role will see you lead a small team while directly overseeing compliance, making a strong commercial mindset essential. You will own end-to-end trend-led new product development, creating and adapting ranges that drive sales and strengthen brand identity within the impulse toy category, as well as plush, games, gifts, gadgets, and more.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to shape and deliver high-impact ranges that stand out in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create and launch new products and commercial ranges tailored to varied customers
* Lead the full NPD process from concept to delivery
* React quickly to trends and consumer behaviour to maximise opportunities
* Manage and onboard suppliers, particularly in the Far East, to enhance brand offering
* Negotiate with suppliers to achieve margin targets
* Manage QA to ensure all products meet compliance and safety standards
* Collaborate with design on packaging and product positioning
* Conduct market and competitor analysis
* Manage a large portfolio of SKUs, including re-buys
* Use sales data to drive performance strategies
* Support sales and marketing efforts to drive sell-through
* Take full ownership of the buying process and buying team
* Plan and attend UK trade fairs and occasional Far East sourcing trips
