Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Financial Officer is primarily responsible for maximizing the financial performance of the organization and related divisions.  As a key member of the executive team, the CFO directs and supervises all accounting and financial functions.

SUPERVISOR: Chief Executive Officer

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Lead the financial affairs of the organization and ensure timely, accurate reporting of financial information
  • Work as an integral member of the executive management team in developing short and long-term strategies for the organization
  • Partner with executive management to build financial discipline throughout the organization that will help enable strong performance against strategic, financial, and operational goals
  • Manage accounting operations, tax compliance, and financial reporting for all related entities, including the non-profit arm of the organization
  • Lead annual financial reviews and tax preparation with external CPA firm.
  • Provide support for operational programs throughout the organization
  • Analysis of operating results for the organization and all operating entities
  • Evaluate new technical accounting developments and recommend appropriate actions; drive process improvement at all levels of the organization
  • Maintain effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, integrity of corporate data, and safeguarding of assets and inventory
  • Manage for the organization’s cash position, treasury management activities, as well as maintain corporate banking relationships
  • Maintain commercial and business insurance policies for all entities
  • Support corporate transactions including equity or debt financing and M&A activity
  • Serve as Plan Administrator for organization’s 401(k) plan, to include annual audit activities
  • Manage financial aspects of the organization’s partially self-funded health plan
  • Prepare data for national medical practice related benchmarking surveys
  • Build and manage a high-performance team, and actively participate in building a culture that is customer-focused and team-oriented
  • Provide leadership and direction to accounting staff
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Accounting/Finance. CPA license highly preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience performing as a Controller or Chief Financial Officer

  • Five to ten years of demonstrated accounting and financial management

  • Must possess knowledge of federal and state regulations

  • Thorough understanding of strategic planning, operations and financial conditions

  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving

  • Ability to work with a wide range of management and medical staff, as well as with representatives of businesses and regulatory agencies

  • Consistently encourage commitment to quality, productivity and continuous improvement

  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access

  • Knowledge or experience in any of the following systems a plus: Paycom, Athena, Great Plains-Dynamics

  • Experience in financial operations in the medical service industry a plus

SKILLS:

  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills

  • Extensive level of organizational and prioritizing skills

  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivator

  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously and be flexible to meet the needs of the organization

  • Advanced understanding of mathematical computations and analysis

  • Skilled in the use of electronic data management and the ability to manipulate/interface data with proprietary and acquired databases

  • Forecasts financial climate and reports findings to senior management with recommended solutions or anticipated impact on organization

  • Demonstrated experience in management and long-range planning of financial activities

ABILITIES:

  • Possesses a high degree of personal ethics and confidentiality

  • Continually update self-knowledge of operational processes, technical systems, & software

  • Formulates presentations at an appropriate level of understanding to audience

  • Interprets and presents data to various levels of representatives, both internal and external

  • Uses independent judgment to analyze and resolve problems

  • Interact with professionals and staff from a variety of disciplines

  • Represents the organization in a professional manner at all times

  • Responds to ad hoc requests in a timely fashion

OTHER: 

  • Other duties as assigned or requested by CEO, administration, Executive committee, or physician owners

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:  Position requires prolonged sitting.  Requires normal range of hearing to understand telephonic verbal communication. Some bending or stretching. Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopies, telephone, computer/laptop, and other office equipment.
