SUMMARY: The Director of Manufacturing has responsibility to lead and direct personnel, procedures and expectations in the manufacturing facility to fulfill the vision and mission of Ohio Gratings in alignment with our defined organizational culture, core values and essentials.

Actively support the Ohio Gratings vision, mission, defined organizational culture, core values and essentials with actions, behaviors and communications. Assist in providing clarity to all managers and subordinates.
Develop and maintain operating staff, establish standards of performance, evaluate performance, ensure adherence to Company policies/procedures and recommend changes in employee status.
Provide leadership and enforce policy regarding safety goals and environmental programs for plant.
Support and ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly, integrating preventative and preemptive maintenance disciplines.
Lead the development and implementation of improved operating methods, systems and procedures to reduce costs and to improve quality and safety performance.
Lead and motivate supervisory, professional, and lead staff.
Develop the manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and Company quality standards.
Set example in leadership for operations team in developing effective lines of communication and cooperation between departments and functions within areas of responsibility.
Develop and train staff on the proper safe use of equipment for the intended results.
Participate as a member of the Ohio Gratings management team on the development, deployment and adherence to Human Resource policies and procedures.
Set policy regarding production schedules as necessary to ensure timely service making Ohio Gratings’ customer base successful.
Direct and monitor the flow of throughput; utilizing analytics, troubleshoot and resolve process bottlenecks and quality issues.
Lead implementation of reporting systems and procedures to monitor and control the flow of throughput throughout the operations process.
Interact with customers, vendors, and sales representatives, as necessary, to resolve problems and to promote Company mission.
Other duties as assigned.
Directly supervise all manufacturing production and maintenance supervisors.
Carry out supervisory and managerial responsibilities in accordance with Ohio Gratings, organizational policies, applicable federal, state, and local laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and career development.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND PROFICIENCIES:
A High School diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related field with 7-10 plus years of manufacturing management experience is required. Must have 5-7 years of operations or supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in fabrication of steel and aluminum metal products is desired. Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles is preferred. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules is required. Must have excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and team building skills, as well as outstanding organizational and planning abilities; must also possess a positive attitude and the ability to multitask and follow-up with a sense of urgency. This position requires professional, articulate, tact and diplomacy at all times and at all levels. Must be strategic in his/her orientation, proactive, persistent, and able to handle multiple projects and customers simultaneously, as well as work within a very fast-paced environment.
