Atkinson Moss are partnering with a well-established UK manufacturing business operating within a highly regulated environment to appoint an experienced Financial Controller.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy and control of the company’s financial operations. The Financial Controller will oversee financial reporting, statutory compliance, internal controls and cash management, while acting as a trusted business partner to operational and commercial teams.

This role would suit a technically strong, commercially minded finance leader with experience in complex manufacturing or project-based environments.

Main Duties:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, delivering accurate reporting with meaningful variance analysis
  • Own the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting cycle
  • Prepare statutory accounts in line with IFRS and manage the year-end audit process
  • Ensure full compliance with UK tax requirements (VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE, R&D claims where applicable)
  • Maintain a strong and well-controlled balance sheet, including oversight of inventory, WIP, accruals and provisions
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital performance
  • Oversee product and programme costing, including overhead absorption and margin analysis
  • Monitor contract and programme financial performance, including long-term revenue recognition (IFRS 15)
  • Support bid pricing, cost modelling and financial input into new business proposals
  • Partner closely with operations to enhance cost visibility, drive efficiencies and improve profitability
  • Maintain and continuously strengthen internal financial controls in line with best practice
  • Develop and enhance financial policies, processes and reporting frameworks
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Ensure robust financial governance and appropriate segregation of duties
  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team
  • Act as a key business partner to senior leadership and cross-functional teams including operations, supply chain and commercial
  • Provide clear financial insight and recommendations to support strategic decision-making

You will be ideally Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or Qualified by experience. Have Strong technical knowledge of UK statutory reporting and financial controls and advanced Excel skills and strong ERP system experience
