Associate Town Planner

Location - Altrincham

Our client, an independent firm based in Altrincham, is now looking to welcome an Associate Town Planner into their growing and ambitious team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded and motivated planner ready to take the next step in their career, delivering projects with impact and helping shape the future growth of the practice.

The Role - Associate Town Planner

As an Associate Town Planner, you will lead on a variety of planning projects, advising a diverse client base including developers, housebuilders, land promoters, and private landowners. You'll manage applications, provide strategic advice, and help to guide more junior team members, working closely with the Directors to support business development and client growth.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of planning projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes

Provide clear, commercially focused planning advice to clients

Lead on the preparation, submission and negotiation of planning applications and appeals

Monitor local plan consultations and promote land through the plan-making process

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities

Support the mentoring of junior planners within the team

Contribute to business development activities and help grow the consultancy's profile in the North West

Requirements

MRTPI Chartered Town Planner (or working toward this with strong experience)

Previous consultancy or local authority experience (ideally 5+ years)

Strong knowledge of the UK planning system

Excellent communication, negotiation and report writing skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

A proactive, professional approach with a commercial mindset

Full UK driving licence
