SEN Teacher - Kensington & Chelsea, West London

Full-Time, Long-Term position

ASAP Start until the end of the Academic Year

Gain Education are looking for a qualified SEN Teacher to join a delightful mainstream Primary School based in West London. The school are seeking an SEN Teacher who is able to demonstrate both excellent classroom practice and has an up-to-date understanding of the latest developments in special needs best practice.

This SEN Teacher role will be starting immediately (November 2023) and continuing on a long term basis for the remainder of the academic year with a view to moving into a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The successful SEN Teacher will work with a small group of students across years 3 and 4 who have a range of mild learning difficulties and Autism.

You will have a dedicated classroom, facilities and be supported by several SEN Teaching Assistants as well as the SENCo. The children follow a topic-based curriculum which is modified to take account of their individual learning needs.

The school has worked hard to make the school an ASD-friendly environment and you can see the results as pupils find the school a low-stress environment which in turn reduces challenging behaviour.

The successful SEN Teacher will need to:

* Be able to deliver fun, creative, interesting lessons designed to increase and stimulate independent thought, interaction and sensory engagement.

* Hold qualified teacher status (QTS)

* Have a basic understanding of autism having either taught pupils with ASD in an SEN or mainstream class setting.

* Be familiar with alternative communication tools such as PECS and Makaton and will have a basic understanding of the cognitive behaviour therapy techniques espoused in the TEACCH approach to supporting autistic learners.

* Have experience teaching an ASD/SLD group

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Primary Teacher who has a keen interest in supporting and nurturing Primary aged SEN Students. This Primary School offer a collaborative, enthusiastic and committed approach with outstanding management and a teaching staff team.

If you would like to apply for this SEN Teacher position please contact Gavin at Gain Education today to organise an interview and a trial day.
