About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive school in Peterborough. This role is ideal for a skilled educator who wants to work with children with additional needs or in mainstream classrooms, supporting learning and helping pupils reach their full potential.

As an HLTA, you will work under the guidance of the class teacher and school leadership to deliver lessons, supervise groups, and provide targeted interventions, making a real difference to students’ learning and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver lessons or learning activities under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Support pupils with SEN, learning difficulties, or additional needs.
  • Lead small group or 1:1 interventions to support learning.
  • Supervise classes in the teacher’s absence where required.
  • Assist in planning and preparing resources for lessons.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Support the development of literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
Requirements
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in schools.
  • Experience supporting children with SEN or additional learning needs.
  • Ability to deliver lessons and support small groups confidently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils.
  • Relevant training in safeguarding, behaviour management, or first aid is desirable.
