Senior Category Specialist Location - London Becoming a Senior Category Specialist: This is an exciting time to join our client. As part of a wider corporate transformation programme our client is restructuring its procurement operations to reflect best corporate practice. The objective of the central procurement team will be to manage all external spend by the Group and ensure key strategic suppliers are closely monitored and aligned to the clients needs. So what better to time to join! As Category Specialist you will manage a range of supplier spend across the Group that has critical business impact. You will manage spend from between £20m to £60m and cover Professional Services categories, including Advisory, Consultancy, Audit Insurance, to ensure on-going performance and the risk represented by the substantial supply base is of critical importance. Overall you will have responsibility and budget management of some exciting projects in our business! What you will do: • Work with the Senior Category Manager to deliver the Category vision, with a clear strategy and operating plan, supporting the Category Team’s objectives to the Group, business strategy and improving the measurable contribution of the Team to business performance. • To implement Supplier Relationship Management as an effective and efficient process, ensuring compliance with all policies, minimum standards and governance/risk mechanisms. • To work with staff within the Divisions to ensure all procurement activity aligns as effectively as possible to corporate goals and deliver continuous improvement and innovation. • To have insight and understanding of business requirements and relevant supply market developments on a 1-3 year horizon. • Results and Performance: To be accountable for the quality and effectiveness of delivery measured by an agreed balanced scorecard to achieve service and financial outcomes. • Represent the company with Suppliers building the external profile of our client and of the company as a ‘customer’ of choice for key suppliers. • Review contracts and sourcing activities relative to the Divisional business strategy. Your experience will include: • Strong experience in leading Procurement projects from end to end, working to a structured process for RFIs and RFPs • Building and implementing buying strategies, working with stakeholders and business units to gain agreement and commitment to change • Has solid experience in supplier negotiations • Managing and influencing stakeholders and suppliers • Has experience of working with SAP Ariba system, including the execution of online Rfx, e-Auctions and catalogues • Experience or working within a regulated business, ideally financial services or banking.
