Job Profile

Provide commercial expertise to the company in relation to the contractual management of projects both pre and post contract to ensure that projects are completed within the projected budget and commercial risks within the contract are raised with management.

Main Duties

* To work with standard forms of sub contract and main contract (JCT DBSubA and SubC 2016 and NEC3/4 focus).

* Assist in the review and negotiations of contract particulars (contract clauses/terms/scope of works).

* Liaise with the Estimating Department to receive full contract documentation and highlight areas of significance that needs to be reviewed.

* Review contract documentation to ensure all matters in relation to the tender are understood and are reflected in the proposed contract terms issued by our clients e.g. scope of works within the contract match the works we have priced at tender stage

* Create a base set of templates for each project to comply with contractual requirements/clauses e.g. EWN Register, EOT requests, Suspension notices reference the correct contractual clauses.

* Prepare with the Projects Team contractual claims where appropriate, including collation of all correspondence and records to support contractual claims.

* Provide the project managers with support and advice on all commercial activities.

* Build and maintain a good working relationship with clients, contractors and supply chain.

* Be aware of project contractual matters to protect the company's position at all times.

* Carry out internal company audits in relation to commercial matters.

* Attend regular internal/external project meetings.

Person Specification

* Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a minimum of 2 years - essential

* Experience dealing with Contracts, Main Contractors and Subcontractors within the Construction Industry - essential

* Experience in JCT and NEC forms of contract, focus on technical knowledge of how construction contracts work.

* Previous experienced working within the facades sector (ideally windows, doors, curtain walling) - desirable

* HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or similar) - essential

* Chartered member of RICS (MRICS) - desirable

* Experience working on numerous projects concurrently - essential

* Excellent commercial awareness - essential

* The ability to engage and influential key individuals regarding commercial awareness and contractual knowledge - essential
