Container Control Coordinator
Full time, permanent
We are looking for a Container Control Coordinator to join our busy head office team in Ipswich. This role involves managing all aspects of container control and movements, including EDI processing, empty stock control across the UK, and empty/loaded pre-advice. You will ensure records are maintained accurately and provide cover for other team members as required.
How you will help us and what you can expect
- Management of EDI events ensuring prompt and accurate updates. Including creation of Shipper-Own Equipment within MSC systems.
- Pre-advise export loaded and empty containers in MSC and port community systems, ensuring all information is accurate and communicated to customers and hauliers, while also cancelling expired pre-advices.
- Responsible for controlling container stock levels across all operational ports and depots, ensuring export requirements are achieved, and highlighting discrepancies in a timely manner to the appropriate parties.
- Arrange import line-haulage & empty container releases from UK ports and depots via internal / external systems.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all internal departments and third-party suppliers through daily communication on container related matters, including ageing units, damaged equipment, and associated reporting.
- Preparation of daily and weekly reports, with periodic data gathering and reporting to MSC Geneva and UK Management.
- Assist with lifts and storage costs, including spend control, invoicing, reconciliation, and cost recovery.
Skills and experience you’ll bring to us
- Proven ability to manage and forward plan within a fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving environment.
- Ability to address and resolve day to day business issues with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft skills (Destin8/OVA/Paris).
- Be able to demonstrate a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to be flexible and meet strict deadlines.
- Must remain focused on prioritisation of day-to-day emails and tasks.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
