We are currently working with a large, well-established housing organisation to recruit an experienced Housing Officer to provide temporary cover across a Bedford-area patch.
This organisation delivers neighbourhood and tenancy management services across multiple communities, with a strong focus on being visible, responsive, and customer-focused. The role is predominantly field-based, giving you the opportunity to work directly with residents and make a tangible impact within local communities.

The Role
This is a hands-on, community-based position supporting an existing patch during a period of absence. You will be responsible for managing a broad range of housing management and tenancy-related matters, spending the majority of your time out on patch engaging with residents, carrying out inspections, and resolving issues.
Typically, you'll be on patch around three days per week, with the remainder of your time spent working from home completing administration and casework.

Key Responsibilities of a Housing Officer:

Manage day-to-day neighbourhood and housing management activity across a defined patch
Act as a key point of contact for residents, handling tenancy-related queries and issues
Carry out estate inspections and property visits, including joint inspections with estate teams where required
Undertake proactive neighbourhood management, including door knocking and community engagement
Identify and respond to tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour, and safeguarding concerns
Maintain accurate records and update case management systems in a timely manner
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to resolve resident issues
Ensure high standards of customer service through regular, visible presence in the community
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including occasional requirements outside standard hoursAbout You

Proven experience in housing or neighbourhood management
Enhanced DBS already in place or able to obtain one prior to starting
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Based within a reasonable commuting distance of the Bedford area
Comfortable working independently in a field-based role
Strong interpersonal skills with confidence engaging residents face-to-face
