As a DevOps Systems Engineer, you will architect and implement solutions to remedy complicated application challenges around performance, database scaling/sharding, and data transformation.


Additional responsibilities include:



  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and fixing production software issues

  • Developing monitoring solutions

  • Performing software maintenance and configuration

  • Implementing the fix for internally developed code (Perl, Ruby, C/C++, Java)

  • Performing SQL queries, updating, tracking, and resolving technical challenges

  • Updating/enhancing current software, automation of support processes, and documentation of systems




Key Responsibilities:


Work closely with Agile software engineering teams optimize the technology stack for performance, maintainability and fault tolerance


Conduct code promotion and change management


Design and build logging and monitoring systems to identify bottlenecks and assist with the analysis and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues


Proactively maintain, monitor, and analyze system components across server infrastructure


Evaluate and install application and system upgrades, including daily maintenance such as backups and runtime upgrades


Document, drive, and execute against industry best-practice processes and organizational procedures


Perform system performance and load testing procedures


Perform security audits and system hardening measures


Share routine operations task and on-call support


Minimum Requirements


2 years IT operations, systems maintenance and/or monitoring experience


Critical Skills


Excellent problem solving skills


Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012+, IIS 8.5+, Team Foundation Server 2018, Microsoft SQL Server 2012+, server builds, configurations and providing ongoing maintenance and support


Strong, hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting


Experience with code management processes, procedures, and tools (e.g., TFS, GIT, etc.)


Continuous integration and deployment knowledge preferred knowledge of advanced system monitoring, logging and analysis concepts (SCOM, web logs, AppDynamics, etc.).


Understanding of Agile methodology principles


Additional Skills and Qualifications


Principles of application security in a cloud environment


Automation and configuration tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible)


Knowledge of development languages (C#, ASP.NET, Angular, COM+ preferred)


Apache or WordPress website administration


API Management (e.g. Apigee)


Prioritize and execute tasks


Communicate ideas in both technical and user friendly language


Active participation in the technical community desired


Excellent written and verbal communications skills


Education


4-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent DevOps work experience
