As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, both in and out of the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN

  • Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning activities

  • Assisting with behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies

  • Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction

  • Supervising pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and school activities

  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
