An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Sustainability Engineer / Consultant to join a well-established and growing global sustainability team. You'll work on major life sciences projects, driving measurable reductions in energy, emissions, water, and waste through innovative design and construction strategies.

The Role
You will act as a key sustainability representative on capital projects, facilitating goal setting, managing work plans, and leading both design and construction sustainability initiatives. Your expertise will influence project planning, design, and delivery, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and legislation while applying the latest technologies and proven strategies.

Key Responsibilities

* Represent the sustainability function on capital projects, including setting goals and managing work plans.

* Collaborate with project teams to identify sustainable design, construction, and operational strategies.

* Act as a generalist across sustainability topics with specialist expertise in at least several relevant focus areas (e.g., energy, waste, materials, civil).

* Lead and deliver LEED and/or BREEAM assessments from feasibility to certification.

* Manage design teams to deliver on sustainability rating systems.

* Apply relevant sustainability legislation and planning/building regulations.

* Research and implement advances in sustainable technologies.

* Organise and share knowledge, lessons learned, and case studies.

* Support the training and development of junior team members.

Requirements

* 10+ years of industry experience in design, engineering, consulting, project management, or construction.

* 7+ years in a sustainability-focused role.

* Experience in life sciences or manufacturing/industrial sectors.

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

* LEED/BREEAM Assessor with at least 5 projects certified.

* Experience in energy analysis, sustainable materials evaluation, and waste management.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills (client-facing role).

* Resilient, innovative, and technically grounded.

Desirable

* Chartered or working towards CEng/CEnv (CIBSE, IMechE, IEMA, or equivalent).

* Master's degree or advanced training in a related field.

* WELL AP or Fitwel Ambassador.

* LCA Assessor.

* Energy modelling experience.

* Experience with Revit and other CAD tools.
