Development Engineering Technician

We are working with an engineering business based in Norwich that is looking to recruit a Development Engineering Technician to support its growing Research & Development department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on technician to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team working on prototype systems, technology development and system capability improvements. You'll play a key role in supporting projects from initial design through to test and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, assemble and maintain electrical, mechanical and electronic prototypes
- Assist with the design and development of prototype test equipment
- Conduct fault-finding and snagging activities to support engineering improvements
- Follow engineering drawings and specifications accurately
- Take ownership of delegated tasks and provide regular progress updates
- Work to strict timescales and support lab organisation and maintenance
- Contribute to documentation including specifications, reports and test data
Requirements:
- Qualified to HNC/Degree level or equivalent in Engineering or a relevant discipline
- Alternatively, a recognised apprenticeship with hands-on engineering experience
- Competence in mechanical fitting, wiring and cable assembly, PCB assembly and electrical fault finding
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence and valid passport
Desirable:
- 18th Edition Electrical Installation qualification
- Forklift Truck licence
- CAD experience
You will be working 37.5 per week. Monday to Thursday 08:15-17:00, Friday 08:15-12:45.
