FCL Import Operator - Sea Freight

We are currently recruiting for an experienced FCL Import Operator to join a well-established and growing freight forwarding business based in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in full container load (FCL) imports who enjoys taking ownership of shipments and working within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing FCL import shipments from origin through to final delivery in the UK, ensuring all movements are handled efficiently and in line with customer expectations.

Working closely with overseas agents, shipping lines, transport providers, and internal teams, you will play a key role in maintaining high service levels and smooth operational flow.

Key Responsibilities

* Managing FCL import shipments end-to-end

* Liaising with overseas agents and offices

* Communicating with shipping lines regarding bookings, schedules, and container availability

* Coordinating customs clearance with internal or external providers

* Arranging UK transport and final delivery

* Liaising with warehouses and third-party facilities where required

* Monitoring shipments and resolving operational issues proactively

* Supporting the wider import team to ensure smooth workflow

* Ensuring all documentation is accurate, including Bills of Lading

* Working with internal departments (including accounts) to ensure timely cargo release

What We're Looking For

* Previous experience in FCL import operations

* Strong understanding of container shipping processes and documentation

* Knowledge of shipping lines, carrier performance, and container availability

* Ability to manage shipments independently

* Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills

* Experience with customs procedures is advantageous but not essential
