A leading SME business based in Leeds with lovely team and family feel, is seeking to appoint a Head of Finance. The Head of Finance will support the production of key accounting information for the board as well as heading a small team. Our client is a sub £10m t/o business, having demonstrated mostly organic growth till now. The role will not only support the board in strategic decisions, but also have a meticulous attention to detail and not be afraid to get into the numbers as this is certainly not and ivory tower appointment 100% led by strategy alone. It is an evolving business that in turn will require new systems, automation, and financial stewardship as well as commercial direction and supporting the board to further grow this exciting business at an exciting time.

  • Prepare and present board reports, providing insightful financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Oversee monthly reporting, sales reporting, and contribute to the strategic positioning of the organisation.
  • Act as Company Secretary, managing administrative duties related to governance and compliance.
  • Oversee and support the human resource management, ensuring the well-being of the team members.
  • Manage cash flow, collaborating closely with auditors to meet statutory and tax obligations.
  • Collaborate with auditors and international banking partners to achieve financial objectives.
  • Leverage your Sage expertise to streamline financial processes and reporting.

Essentially, the role of Head of Finance is targeting a technically competent ACA/ACMA/ACCA qualified accountant capable of demonstrating exposure in financial management and operations, ideally within a similar SME environment. An ability to work independently and take initiative while contributing to the strategic vision of the company is a given at this level. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with the board, auditors, and banking partners with a capability to challenge inefficiency and process improvement. A self-starter attitude and the capability to dive into the finer details of financial operations.
