Are you a recent Psychology or Criminology graduate or an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant looking to support young people with social, emotional, and behavioural needs?
We are working with a forward-thinking and inclusive SEN school in Dunstable that is looking for a passionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is an ideal opportunity for those exploring careers in Educational Psychology, Youth Work, Mental Health, or Social Care.
Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored support to students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
- Support teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals in delivering structured, trauma-informed education
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on self-regulation, self-esteem, and resilience
- Act as a positive role model, helping students re-engage with their learning and school community
- Build trusting relationships that help reduce barriers to learning
What We're Looking For
- A graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
- A passion for supporting young people facing challenges in and out of the classroom
- Calm, empathetic, and emotionally resilient individuals
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
- Ability to travel to and work in Dunstable
- Previous experience working with vulnerable groups or young people (paid or voluntary) is desirable but not essential
