Expleo is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to support our customer based in Gaydon. This role sits within the Vehicle Structures team, focusing on the design, development, and delivery of high‑voltage (HV) battery enclosures and associated structural components.
About the Role
As a Lead Engineer, you will report to the Technical Group Leader and will be responsible for the delivery of structural components such as HV battery enclosures, frames, lids, sealing & venting systems, and bracketry. You will ensure that all programme content meets the latest technical requirements, aligns with the engineering strategy, and integrates efficiently within the wider vehicle structure to achieve performance targets.
You will also act as a Project Lead Engineer for a platform, managing the design and development of components through the full delivery phase. This includes meeting cost, weight, NVH, dynamics, safety, and functional targets, while supporting cross‑functional teams and managing tooling releases to suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of HV battery enclosure systems and associated structural components.
* Ensure all in-flight programmes meet technical requirements and engineering strategy.
* Oversee integration and compatibility of structures to meet attribute targets.
* Own the design and development of assigned components through the delivery phase.
* Achieve performance objectives including durability, stiffness, NVH, weight, and cost.
* Liaise with platform and programme teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Manage design and tooling releases to suppliers.
* Work autonomously while coordinating with complex, multi‑disciplinary teams.
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven management capabilities with excellent execution skills and the ability to multitask
* Highly experienced in HV Battery, Body or Subframe structural parts, and the associated delivery of these components
* Experience in mechanical design of safety critical structural components
* Proven ability to lead the engineering of components and systems in context within a complex team environment
* Self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision
* Experience of component design to deliver performance attributes (durability, stiffness, NVH, weight, cost)
Education
* Mechanical design background / structural engineering
* Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification
