Salary: £90000 - £100000/annum

MK Search are working with a well respected medium sized M&E contractor with a turnover of £50m with a strong presence across the commercial, healthcare and education projects who are looking for a design manager to work from their head office in South East London.

As M&E design manager you will oversee design delivery across multiple live and pre-construction projects, ensuring technical compliance, innovation, coordination and consistency from early concept through to project completion. This will involve management of an in-house design team as well coordinating external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the in-house M&E design team across all project stages

*

Develop design strategies in line with project requirements, client needs and sustainability targets

*

Undertake technical reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance and best practice

*

Work closely with project managers, architects, consultants and clients to provide coordinated design solutions

*

Support professional development and performance management of design team members

*

Manage design timelines, budgets, workloads and resources

*

Stay informed of new technologies, regulations and industry advancements

*

Prepare and present design proposals, reports and project updates to internal teams and external stakeholders

Requirements

*

Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or similar

*

Proven experience in a design management or senior engineering role within the M&E sector

*

Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems

*

Confident leading multidisciplinary design teams on live projects

*

Excellent communication and relationship management skills

*

Proficient with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and calculation tools

*

Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills

*

Knowledge of relevant UK building regulations and industry standards

*

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
