About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of critical engineering services, is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their team near Peterborough. This role covers full-cycle design work—from concept through to commissioning—on control system and automation projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Design electrical panels and field installations
Electrical control schematics
Panel layouts & BOMs
Loop diagrams & cable block diagrams
PLC wiring diagrams & I/O schedules
Perform cable sizing and LV distribution calculations
Design safety circuits and conduct risk assessments (BS EN ISO 13849 / 60261)
Produce technical documentation for installations
Liaise with site teams to ensure project delivery
Lead site commissioning and safety validation Requirements
Strong understanding of machine safety circuits (SIL/PL knowledge beneficial)
Experience with PLC wiring, instrumentation, and motor starter systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software
Fault-finding experience in large-scale control panels
Solid knowledge of industrial automation standards
Qualifications

HNC, BTEC, and/or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering
18th Edition Wiring Regulations certified
5+ years in electrical design (preferably in industrial or FMCG environments)
