Mechanical Technician - Power Generation

Isle of Wight, Relocation Assistance Available

£35,000 - £40,000 + overtime + benefits

Alecto Recruitment is keen to hear from experienced Mechanical Technicians based in the Hampshire area who would be interested in a position in the power generation sector based on the Isle of Wight.

Working as part of a maintenance team you will carry out mechanical maintenance duties across all machinery and apparatus in all areas of the plant.

We are looking for an Engineering background from either the energy from waste, petrochemical or power generation sectors.

In this position you will work 12-hour shifts on either days or nights on a rotating basis:

06:00 - 18:00

10:00 - 22:00

18:00 - 06:00

Ideally you will be based on the island or within commutable distance however our client is able to offer relocation assistance for those interested in moving to the island if based further afield.

Duties

Help to maintain standards as set out in the KPI's.
Communicate problems and concerns promptly through line management or the CMMS ensuring quick resolution.
Ensure the health, safety and security of staff, customers, premises and equipment by encouraging and monitoring best practices always.
Comply with all Health and Safety Legislation.
Ensure all legislative requirements are adhered to.
Always undertake role in a professional and safe manner.
Carry out team briefings and toolbox talks.
Perform planned preventative maintenance checks, inspections and reports in an efficient and prompt manner.
Experience in working with a Computerised Maintenance Management or willing to undertake training at a level applicable to role.
Good understanding of proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring.
Experience of carrying out mechanical maintenance.
Pro-actively support a safety culture in which teams and individuals are responsible and accountable for their actions and perform at their best, improve performance and realise their full potential.Desired Engineer Profile

Specialist proven skills in one of the following Coded Welding, Pressure Vessels, Combined Heat and Power Gas Systems maintenance and servicing, Steam Turbine maintenance and servicing, Steam Valves.
Background working as a Mechanical Technician for the Royal Navy working on power generation equipment as above.
IOSH qualification.
Strong maintenance experience.
Able to commute to Newport, Isle of Wight and able to work shift pattern as mentioned above.
Alternatively our client is able to support Engineers interested in relocating to the island by way of relocation assistance.
