Engineering Team Leader
Location: Blackpool
Salary: £55,000 per annum + benefits
Contract: Permanent | Full-time
Industry: Food Manufacturing

About the company
This well-invested Food Manufacturing site in Blackpool has undergone significant upgrades over the last 24 months and is enjoying impressive growth, with further site improvement projects due to kick off in November 2025. To support this momentum, we're looking to appoint an Engineering Team Leader to blend hands-on technical work with day-to-day leadership of a small, capable team.

The role
As Engineering Team Leader, you'll split your time between leading, coaching, and delegating and rolling up your sleeves to deliver robust maintenance. You'll coordinate reactive and planned work, drive standards, and act as the go-to link between Engineering, Production, and CI to maximise asset reliability and OEE.

Key responsibilities

* Lead, schedule, and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers; manage daily priorities, permit-to-work, and safe systems of work.

* Participate in hands-on PPM, breakdown response, and root cause analysis across processing/packaging equipment.

* Plan and allocate work via the CMMS; ensure accurate job close-out, parts usage, and shift handovers.

* Partner with Production and CI to deliver reliability improvements, reduce waste, and support capex/upgrade projects (incl. Nov 2025 initiatives).

* Uphold H&S, food safety, and GMP; lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, and continuous improvement activities.

* Support contractor management, spares control, and compliance with statutory inspections

What we're looking for

* Proven experience as a Senior/Lead Engineer, Engineering Team Leader, or Supervisor within Food/FMCG or similar fast-paced manufacturing.

* Time-served apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

* Strong fault-finding across electrical and mechanical systems (motors, sensors, conveyors, pneumatics/hydraulics); PLC I/O diagnostics beneficial.

* Confident people leader—organised, calm under pressure, and effective at coaching, delegating, and setting standards.

* CI mindset (5S, RCA, Kaizen) with a collaborative approach and excellent communication skills.
