Teaching Personnel is hiring SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils in primary schools across Newport. You'll play a vital role in helping children overcome challenges and thrive in the classroom.

⭐ The Role

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport, South Wales

Start Date: June 2025

Pay: £420 - £500 per week (based on experience/qualifications)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Contract: Full-time (flexible/part-time roles also available)

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils 1:1 or in small groups with additional learning needs

Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Adapt lessons to suit individual learning styles and abilities

Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment

Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and specialists

Contribute to EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and IEPs

‍ Who We're Looking For

Graduates in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Childhood Studies, or similar

Experience with children or young people (paid, voluntary, or personal)

Passionate about helping children with SEN

Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure

Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills

Looking to gain experience for careers like:
