Handyman / Maintenance Technician – South London

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Handyman / Maintenance Technician to join our team. Covering the South London area, the successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of property maintenance tasks to ensure our homes remain safe, well-maintained, and fully compliant. This role is hands-on and varied, requiring someone who can work independently, solve problems quickly, and deliver quality repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out general property repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and basic appliance fixes.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify and address potential maintenance issues.
  • Conduct fire alarm testing, safety checks, and ensure property compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Handle painting, decorating, drywall repairs, and minor structural adjustments.
  • Assist with installation and assembly of fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to tenant-reported maintenance issues.
  • Basic cleaning and clearing of rooms
  • Liaise with and support external contractors for specialist repairs or larger projects.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, inspections, compliance checks, and work orders.
  • Provide support to colleagues during peak periods or emergencies - This may involve welfare checks on tenants.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in property maintenance, repairs, or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm testing, safety procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Good knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must have a full UK driving licence and access to own car (mileage and expenses reimbursed).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to travel within the South London area on a daily basis.
