We have an opportunity to place a SEN Teaching Assistant in a Specialist school for pupils aged 3-19 with Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
This school has excellent facilities to support the development of the children with classes usually having 6 to 10 pupils present. This supplemented with speech and language therapists, nurses and other external agencies. The school's reputation is well regarded in the local community.
Your role as a SEN Teaching Assistant the school would be to assist the class teacher and possibly support other TA's throughout the school day. Your main duties will include helping pupils with their work, assistance in group work activities, providing an alternative environment for the pupils to work to promote the pupils progress and help them reach their full potential.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant would have:
Experience or interest in supporting children with additional learning needs.
Have the ability to work in challenging situations and not be easily fazed by these.
Have the ability to work well within a cohesive team.
A calm and patient manner to support pupils and the team.
