Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Recovery Coordinator to join SUBX in Brighton on a full-time locum basis. This 3-month contract offers the chance to make a real impact within the local community, providing frontline recovery support to individuals affected by substance use, homelessness, and mental health challenges.

Based at Richmond Road in Brighton, you will work closely with service users through outreach, structured key work, and personalised recovery planning. This role is ideal for a proactive professional passionate about delivering transformative support in a dynamic coastal city.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do
  • Conduct street outreach to engage with rough sleepers and those begging across Brighton.
  • Act as the primary care coordinator for a caseload of service users.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, asset mapping, and recovery planning using motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Deliver personalised care packages including 1-to-1 key work, psycho-social interventions, POD sessions, group work, and harm-minimisation strategies.
  • Carry out full service-user assessments to develop tailored recovery plans that integrate community resources.
  • Support the development of recovery communities that promote sobriety, wellbeing, and resilience.
  • Perform triage assessments and make referrals to treatment agencies, social care, and community services.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk-management plans to promote safety.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and case notes in line with service requirements.
Requirements / Candidate CriteriaEssential
  • Previous experience as a Recovery Coordinator or in a similar mental health/substance misuse role.
  • Strong assessment, care-planning, and motivational interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within outreach environments and engage hard-to-reach individuals.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Understanding of harm minimisation, psycho-social interventions, and recovery models.
Desirable
  • Experience working with rough sleepers or in homelessness outreach.
  • Knowledge of local Brighton services, safeguarding pathways, and community support networks.
  • Training in trauma-informed practice or substance misuse support frameworks.
