Primary Teacher - Year 1 - Maternity Cover - Chesterfield

A friendly and well-regarded primary school in Chesterfield is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to cover a maternity leave starting from 1st September 2025. This is a full-time, fixed-term position running for the full academic year until July 2026.

The Role:

This role involves teaching a vibrant and well-behaved Year 1 class with the support of a full-time Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will take on full teaching responsibilities, including planning, delivering engaging lessons, assessing pupil progress, and attending staff meetings and training.

Phonics plays a key role in the Year 1 curriculum, so prior experience delivering or supporting phonics is essential.

The school has been praised in recent inspections for its strong leadership and excellent pupil behaviour, creating a warm, purposeful learning environment for both staff and students.

About You:

We are looking for a teacher who is:

Qualified with QTS

Experienced in KS1 and confident with the phonics screening check

Committed to delivering creative, high-quality teaching

Able to work collaboratively with the TA and wider staff team

Newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply, as the school is able to provide support for ECT induction.
