About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our growing team within the plant and construction equipment industry. This is a field-based role where you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy plant and construction machinery at customer sites.

The successful candidate will be a skilled engineer with strong diagnostic abilities and a proactive approach to problem solving, ensuring machines are repaired efficiently and safely while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, and repair plant and construction equipment on customer sites.
  • Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, and breakdown repairs.
  • Fault find on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates and technical advice.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role within the plant, construction, or heavy equipment industry.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or equivalent qualification (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working on construction machinery such as excavators, dumpers, loaders, or similar equipment.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field-based role.

Desirable Skills

  • Manufacturer training or certifications.
  • Experience with modern diagnostic tools and telematics systems.
  • Welding or fabrication skills.
