An opportunity has opened for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy based in Inverness, working on a wide range of infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the Highlands.
This role would suit a recent graduate looking to build a career in geotechnical engineering, with strong support, hands-on experience, and exposure to major renewable developments including wind farms, hydro schemes, and grid infrastructure.
The Role
As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you'll be involved in both site and office-based work, supporting the delivery of geotechnical and ground investigation projects.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the planning and supervision of ground investigations
- Logging soil and rock in accordance with relevant standards
- Supporting geotechnical design and analysis
- Preparing factual and interpretive reports
- Carrying out site visits across renewable energy project locations
- Working closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills
Projects
You'll gain exposure to a strong pipeline of renewables-focused work, including:
- Wind farm developments
- Hydroelectric schemes
- Energy infrastructure and grid connections
- Infrastructure and access roads in challenging ground conditions
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Strong interest in ground engineering and renewables
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel to sites
- Good communication and report writing skills
- Full UK driving licence (or working towards it)
