An opportunity has opened for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy based in Inverness, working on a wide range of infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the Highlands.

This role would suit a recent graduate looking to build a career in geotechnical engineering, with strong support, hands-on experience, and exposure to major renewable developments including wind farms, hydro schemes, and grid infrastructure.

The Role

As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you'll be involved in both site and office-based work, supporting the delivery of geotechnical and ground investigation projects.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the planning and supervision of ground investigations
  • Logging soil and rock in accordance with relevant standards
  • Supporting geotechnical design and analysis
  • Preparing factual and interpretive reports
  • Carrying out site visits across renewable energy project locations
  • Working closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills

Projects

You'll gain exposure to a strong pipeline of renewables-focused work, including:

  • Wind farm developments
  • Hydroelectric schemes
  • Energy infrastructure and grid connections
  • Infrastructure and access roads in challenging ground conditions

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong interest in ground engineering and renewables
  • Willingness to work outdoors and travel to sites
  • Good communication and report writing skills
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards it)
