Job Duties: In support of the to the NUWCDIVNPT Code 70 Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department, provide systems engineering support in the areas of: Engineering Analysis (software fault analysis, hardware fault isolation, life cycle support plans and analysis, engineering performance assessments, technical tradeoff studies, financial studies, operational studies, cost trade-off analyses, data to apply for environmental permits, engineering studies of existing designs for on-shore or shipboard systems, subsystems and individual components; repair of failed components, improvements to performance, modernization of design, and expansion of capabilities to meet emerging Fleet needs; and engineering studies/detailed designs recommending suitable replacements for obsolete items); Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) Analysis (review ECPs, Engineering Change Instructions (ECI), and Test Problem Reports and make recommendations concerning technical adequacy, program relevancy, and impact to related program activities; and update specifications); Verification Testing (demonstrate suitability of a proposed design; prototypes subjected to environmental, shock, vibration and transportation testing; prototype performance testing; integration tests to verify compatibility with other systems or subsystems; factory acceptance tests prior to delivery to the installation site; field acceptance tests after installation and prior to system acceptance; and operational tests after installation and integration with existing systems); Information Technology / Information Assurance (IT/IA) Configuration Management (1. Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Code 70's computing systems, networks, and data; patch and take remedial action on Code 70 Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDTE) systems in the standalone, enclave and network environments and at the facilities of the Ranges supported by Code 70, and develop Information Assurance Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages for Code 70 IT systems; 2. Monitor system compliance via provided (GFI) monitoring tools, implement patches to individual IT equipment, perform scans of systems to detect risks and identify solutions for remediation of vulnerabilities, monitor system performance and maintain system availability, implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS) on systems, research and prepare supporting IA material for Information Technology Procurement Requests (ITPR) including the preparation and submission of Infrastructure Change Requests (ICRs) and ITPRs, support the Information Assurance Officer in the conduct of training of Departmental personnel in IA Compliance, provide inputs to the Information Assurance Officer in support of the formulation of Departmental IA policy guidance);
Education/Equivalent: Master's level degree in an Engineering discipline.
